Programs/Services: Welcome to the Arizona Department of Economic Security - Employment Administration (EA).
The EA comprises two main groups: Employment Service and Unemployment Insurance (UI).

Employment Service
The Employment Service assists employers with filling employment vacancies by matching and referring potentially qualified applicants to the employer-using employer provided job requirements. The Job Service also provides assistance to jobseekers that are looking for suitable employment.

The Employment Service refers people to jobs for which they are best qualified and provides other services without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, or mental or physical status (disability) unrelated to job performance.

A portion of the Federal Unemployment Tax collected from Arizona employers is used to fund the Job Service program. The primary responsibility of Job Service is to help employers fill jobs by finding qualified people who want to work. Employers place their job listings by contacting any Job Service office. Employment specialists will screen and refer applicants for consideration based upon the employer`s job requirements; however, the final selection is up to the employer. Our employment specialists can also provide assistance with writing effective job orders and descriptions. The Job Service offers other services such as: assistance with mass recruitments, provide information on employment-related laws, and conduct on-site visits.

What services can job seekers get?

Professional staff at local Job Service offices is available to:

• Interview applicants to identify job experience, skills, and interests.

• Give tests to measure aptitude for different jobs.

• Counsel applicants who need to make a job choice, change or adjustment.

• Give information about jobs, qualifications required, and physical demands.

• Refer applicants to job openings and develop suitable openings.

• Accept and resolve Job Service-related complaints.

Unemployment Insurance Program
The Unemployment Insurance (UI) Program provides a measure of economic security to the individual worker and the community when unemployment beyond the worker’s control occurs. The cost of benefits paid to eligible individuals is funded by UI taxes collected from Arizona employers. For Arizona Re-Employment Rapid Access, file unemployment insurance claim on line at www.azui.com.

The Unemployment Insurance (UI) program began in 1935 under the Social Security Act. Legislation to enact the program in Arizona was passed in 1936. Arizona employers began paying contributions (now referred to as UI taxes) into the UI Trust Fund during 1937, and by the end of the year a little over $2 million (including interest) had accumulated. An additional $1.8 million was paid into the fund by the end of 1938. It was during 1938 that the first UI benefits were actually paid out. With a maximum weekly benefit amount of $15 a week, benefits paid in 1938 totaled $1.9 million dollars. For more than 65 years, the UI program has provided a measure of economic security to the individual worker and the community when unemployment beyond the worker`s control occurs. Unemployment benefits are paid through state unemployment taxes, while the federal unemployment tax (FUTA) funds the administrative costs of the program.

Programs/Services: For more information on CAAG, and how we may serve you, please contact us at our main office in Superior.

The Central Arizona Association of Governments (CAAG) is a Council of Governments that serves as the regional planning agency for Pinal and Gila Counties. CAAG provides a regional forum for analysis, discussion, and resolution of issues including areas of transportation, environmental quality, community and economic development, job training, and social services.
CAAG prides itself in finding new and innovative solutions to regional issues. The face of Region V is rapidly changing, and CAAG is committed to meeting the challenges of a growing area through partnership and collaborative effort.

The Mission of the Central Arizona Association of Governments is to provide effective planning and model programs which offer creative solutions to the unique needs within Region V.CAAG is a regional planning agency for Gila and Pinal Counties. Along with providing planning services to our 17 member entities (municipal governemnts). We also house the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program.

The RSVP program provides an outlet for seniors and retirees to volutneer in their communities, providing services to community members in multiple facets.

The Workforce Investment Act, WIA, Program (formerly known as the JTPA program) provides job counseling and training to youth, adults, and displaced workers. WIA works to help its clients find and maintain meaningful employment, and assist recently displaced workers.

------------------------------------------------------------------

The Central Arizona Association of Governments (CAAG) was formed in 1970 and incorporated in 1975. CAAG is one of six regional planning districts, or Councils of Governments (COGs), established by Executive Order 70-2 by the Governor of Arizona.

The six designated districts ultimately became two urban COGs, and four rural COGs. The goal was to create regional groupings that could provide more effective regional planning than various small towns, individual counties, or rural areas could on their own. The idea was to promote a community of interest, to preserve county boundaries, and to have a population base adequate to support planning activities, while complying with federal planning requirements and addressing the concerns of local government officials. The COGs, especially in rural areas, produced an economy of scale that allowed governments within a region to pool limited resources for maximum effect.

The CAAG Region is comprised of Gila and Pinal Counties, which includes fifteen incorporated communities, and over 10,000 square miles of area. The region is very diverse in terms of socioeconomic characteristics as well as geography and climate.

Early Intervention
PGCCS has Early Intervention programs in Payson and Apache Junction. The program is free to children who are between birth and three years old and have an identified developmental disability or are at-risk for a developmental delay. The program is a home-based program that serves approximately 30 children. Home visits are provided on a weekly basis during which time activities are taught to the family to stimulate the child’s development. Therapy day is held once a month during which time an occupational therapist, physical therapist, and speech therapist consult on each child and develop a home program to be implemented with the child throughout the month. To have your child evaluated, contact Arizona Early Intervention Program (AzEIP) at 800-851-6266 (Pinal County) or 800-597-3390 (Gila County).
